HISTORY
Paramguru Shrimat Karunasagar Maharajshri founded the Gnan Sampradaya at Sarsa in Vikram Sanvat 1829. Sarsa is the Gurugadi-the main seat of this sampradaya and the head of the Sampradaya stays here. Though the stories about the birth and the death of Paramguru are not easily acceptable in this age of science, they are firmly believed by the devotees of the Sampradaya. It is said Hetbai, a Kshatriya woman from Sarsa, was going to her parent's house along with her child. To quench her thirst she stopped at a tank near by village Kasor(Bhalej) and putting her child under a tree she started drinking water. But to her horror a wolf came there and took away her child. Her lamentations became uncontrollable. The Pragatya ( the arrival- not birth) of the Paramguru took place here. As the child Karunsagar consoled Hetbai and also explained the purpose of his arrival. The Paramguru renounced the world at a very young age of 8 years and took initiation as a saint from one pious Saint Krishnaswami of Ode village. The Paramguru founded the Gnan Sampradaya in the same year and also wrote the first book about it. The Patidars of Sarsa became his disciples and provided all material help to him. He lived for 105 years and then left this world for another mission- as the devotees say Paramguru had left this world and had not died!
The Paramguru selected Narvedsagarji, a devote & intelligent saint,as his successor. Thus Narvedsagar Maharajshri became the Second Kuveracharyashri of the Gnan Sampradaya. He was followed by Baldevdasji Maharajshri, Bhagwandasji Maharajshri, Prayagdasji Maharajshri & Shitaldasji Maharajshri. The Present and the Seventh Kuveryacharya is H.H. Avichaldasji Maharajshri.
